Introducing Andrew "Jackie" Jackson Palmer

Andrew Jackson Palmer was born in May 15 of 1815 in Rutherford County Tennessee. We do not know who his parents were and that is part of our mission to find and identify his continuing family line.

Andrew was born in Tennessee traveled to and lived in Georgia by 1850 as he and his wife Sarah Sandlin (Sandland) are found living in Forsyth Co with daughter Margaret who is 1 year old.

Andrew worked as a Miller for at least part of his life, he was a church going man and was one of the founding members of the Zion Baptist Church in Suches Georgia where he served a couple of terms as church secretary. He could read and write.

Andrew either married late in life around the age of 33 or he may have had a family prior and lost them in some way. It appears he married Sarah around the age of 33 and she was 11 year younger than he.

Andrew was a southern patriot and served in the Civil War in Findley's Regiment from North Georgia again at an age old for that activity.

Andrew and Sarah appear to have moved to Suches Georgia in Union County between the 1860 and 1850 census. The couple lived out their lives there and had many children.

The descendents of their children have been searching for information, photos and more about them for years, starting with Cousin Harry Palmer who posted a query online in the 1990s and continuing with Lesley Palmer, Mary Ledford, Toby Palmer who authored a wonderful book on many of Andrew's descendents.

The children of Andrew and Sarah Palmer were:
